Cloten - sketch by RedSkittlez-DA Cloten - sketch by RedSkittlez-DA
Cloten is, even by the standards of the Space Marines, a huge and powerful being. The fact that he has the Red Thirst in his blood makes him an even more potent warrior. The curse of Sanguinius runs thick in his veins, but where most men fall to the rage and become rampaging monsters, Cloten has such strength of will that he can control it, at least to an extent. When Leonatos prepared to leave on his exile to find the lost Blade Encarmine, Cloten was there by his side to see the quest through whatever the dangers. Throughout the ongoing trials Cloten's great strength and courage have stood the exiled band in very good stead. But his strength has a price, and he constantly batlles with himself and the weakness that lies within. It is only when he meets and defeats a future version of himself - one who has succumed fully to the dreaded Red Thirst - that he can claim to have brought himself under control. This is something that few Blood Angels who felt the curse of Sanguinius can claim to have achieved.

The ending was so sad...typical for Warhammer, but still, sad to see him go :<

There's a book on it? >_<

Yeah, Red Thirst, no doubt giving the warrior the strength he needs to combat the foes of Man but at the price of sanity.
Rare and respected to see Blood Angels like him and Mephiston being able to control their Red Thirst or Black Rage.

Cleutin is from Codex Angels of Death, Cloten is from the Blood Quest Trilogy comics.

Waitwat. Time travel? Killing yourself? Won't that create a time loop?

They were in the Eye of Terror, and they were faced with the four trials of the chaos gods to reclaim the relic weapon 'Blade Encarmine'.
One of the trials was the labyrinth of Tzeentch in wich they had to face their fears, Cloten's fear being the one where he loses the battle against the Red Thirst, basically he had to fight a soulless beast, an image of himself fully succumbed to the dark curse that will befall every Blood Angel eventually.

It's not about time travel , it's more of a warp illusion, an alternate reality, facing one's inner demon.

Ah, that makes more sense. The description made it sound like he literally fought his future self.
