actually the armor is made of a metal called Ceramite and is one of the strongest metals in the Warhammer 40k universe and it can with stand acid of all types. so basically yeah it's acid proof. don't believe me here's the info.
Ceramite is a form of heat and shock-resistant ceramic material that is widely used throughout the Imperium of Man. High-quality ceramite is used in the higher-quality types of Imperial armour, including Carapace Armour, Power Armour and Terminator Armour. Ceramite conducts almost no heat, making it especially heat-resistant and effective protection against energy-based weapons. Low-quality ceramite is used to mass-produce cheap Flak Armour for the Imperial Guard. An inexpensive and sturdy building material widely used across the Imperium consists of pulp wood formed around a core of low-grade ceramite. This material is used for the construction of low-cost prefabricated housing blocks on many Imperial Hive Worlds.
and did you notice that it said heat-resistant yeah and that also means that lightsaber can't do jack shit to the armor.
would've been better in my opinion if the Space Marine had been using a chainsword, but Bolter or bolt pistol (hard to tell) works just as well. Just don't bring a Space Marine Terminatro into the mix. Or Jump Packs.
Xenomorphs are an endoparasitoid extraterrestrial species, they posess a multiple life cycle. These creatures need a host organism to reproduce themselves, and will kill any non-xenomorph life form on sight, regardless of age or species. Genestealers on the other hand, have a more secluded reproductive cycle, it's far less effective, and slower. The Xenomorphs have been BRED specifically for killing whilst Genestealers have not. Xenomorphs are 7 to 8 feet tall, posess a staggering amount of instictual intelligence, akin to a primate, and learns by introspection. It is not bound by a Hive mind or brood like a genestealer, thus it is capable of independant thought, making it more versatile and deadly compared to a genestealer.
The fact is Genestealers are heavily influenced by the ALIEN movies and as such are much akin to them. Xenomorphs are bred for the same thing genestealers are, to make more of their species, reference when Ripley tells the marine that they don't kill you and that Newt is alive. Xenomorphs are smart enough to realize they NEED living hosts to reproduce. Genestealers are the SAME SIZE as Xenomorphs. The only real difference though is in the need for generations for genestealers to reproduce as opposed to the "immediate" results of Xenomorph reproduction. Then of course their minds, the hivemind works in almost the same way as the xenomorph mind only with a much wider, coordinated, and more intelligent approach. Think of it this way, a single free roaming mid intelligence vs a networked super intelligence. There are, of course, benefits to both techniques. In the end, all I'm saying is, Xenomorphs have been pitted against humans and predators usually and been beaten a few times, Spacemarines are a whole different ballgame.
The Xenomorph is equipped to be the perfect killing machine. It dons an exoskeleton much like that of a lobster, its surface cells with polarised silicone, which is a very inert, heat resistant (even though they're afraid of fire) and flexible polymer. This allows the creature great environmental resistance. Genestealers are not heavily influenced by the Alien movies, they don't have any distinguishable similar features. Xenomorphs are anatomically superior in every way to genestealers. Xenomorphs can stand up and take a bipedal approach a fully developed matured Xenomorph warrior can reach up to 14 feet in size standing on its hind legs, let's not even get started on Pratetorians; whilst genestealers are unable to straighten their backs, they are constantly hunched due to their obvious weight and constitution. Xenomorphs are masters of stealth , and are conscious of the effects of their acidic blood, and will use it to their advantage - to break out of human-constructed confinement or as a weapon. They show some military tactics (such as retreating when overwhelmed), and can find ways to get around certain problems (such as pushing the red button to freeze a soldier in liquid nitrogen). They know that the darkness is their ally, and break lights to create cover. Genestealers don't use tactics like these, and lack the weapons and cunning like Xenomorphs. The Xenomorphs have a caste system similar to those of bees and ants. A major difference is that their caste system is far more complex, it being led by multiple queens governing hives, all being led systematically by instinct.
Yes, the Xenomorph is designed to be the perfect killing machine and I didn't make it clear I understood that. But why are you bothering typing all the details of Xenomorph physiognomy, I obviously understand what a Xenomorph is and all the facts I already know just make it harder for me to get to your point. Forgive me if I was wrong about the orgins, but I am pretty sure I read an article about it before. (I will send it if I ever run into it again) I already admitted the differences in their cognizance having different advantages, but you seem to be giving genestealers no credit at all. They use stealth, they use retreat when overwhelmed, they even understand terror tactics! Also, Genestealers use a cast system as well, with local hive beasts having a more intimate hand in the nearby behavior. But on the other hand, your right, their blood and ability to learn set the Xenomorphs apart. I never said that the Xenomorphs were not superior or that they wouldn't pose more of a threat, all I said is that you would have a lot of xenomorph deaths if you had a couple of SM in there. They have gear to deal with things like this, they have training to deal with it, and they have the smarts to deal with it. I just realized I posted a lot of genestealer facts in this, like you posted xenomorph facts, sorry about that, kinda hypocritical there if you know your tyranid lore. But in any case, I am missing the reason this debate started, do you not feel that many xenomorphs would die?
oh oh ho and dont forget that Xenomorphs have acid blood that can chew threw almost anything making it very hard to kill more then one with a had to hand weapon that is not designed to withstand the acid. Not to mention with the explosive bolts that boltguns use you can bet there will be xenomorph blood everywhere. Sorry about that I just thought it was relevant and the Xenomorph blood was one of the things that really stuck in my mind after watching those movies.
So, if you were to leave any alive or allow any to escape... that'd be very bad then? seeing as how with every encounter they would naturally pick up ways that Astartes Power Armour could be breached, cut apart and otherwise rent asunder with veritable ease... right? Rather than the genestealer which only has the collective intelligence of the hive mind to draw on (vast as that may be)
Have you ever seen Aliens!? The adult Xenomorph is a living weapon, noted for its ferocity and deadliness in any condition. Once fully matured, they have great physical strength and agility. They are masters of stealth; a favored method of acquiring prey is to wait in a dormant state until an appropriate victim strays near, and then drop down silently from behind.
Adult xenomorphs are quick and agile, and can run along ceilings and walls! In the rare event that a xenomorph finds itself under attack or otherwise vulnerable, it displays incredible creativity and cleverness. They are capable of moving quickly and silently in ventilation systems, despite their size, and will use such conduits for ambush, escape, or simply as an easy way to travel between areas.
